2011/04/02 Very successful start of IPEQ in Bulgaria

 

The first meeting of the Initiative for Printers' Education and Qualification (IPEQ) of the Balkan Print Forum (BPF) took place on 22.03.2011 in the University of Library Science and Information Technology (UniBIT), Sofia. The event has been initiated and supported by the Printing Industry Union of Bulgaria, UniBIT, manroland Bulgaria and manroland AG.

More than 110 students, teachers and professors from the print media high schools and universities in Bulgaria, representatives of the Bulgarian printing industry, as well as of the trade press attended the meeting. Prof. Dr. Kristina Varbanova Dencheva, Head of the department "Book and Society", opened the event and welcomed the participants on behalf of the host UniBIT. Mr. Marian Marinov, manroland Bulgaria, shortly introduced the company and its main activities. Dr. Rossitza Velkova, Coordinator of the Balkan Print Forum presented the lecture of prof. Gerd Finkbeiner, Chairman of the Executive Board, manroland AG, "One Touch – autoprint, manrolan's Perspective Print 2020 for the newspaper production of the future". She informed also about the aims and the main targets of BPF and IPEQ and about the new website www.ipeq.org, a functional platform for the print media society of the region. The participants have been acquainted with the development, the intentions and the expected results of the Balkan Print Forum educational initiative IPEQ.

All events' attendees have been highly impressed by the interesting innovative lecture which has been provided by manroland AG. The students and professors from the University of Library Science and Information Technology, Sofia; the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia; the Technical University – Sofia, Plovdiv Branch and the Graphic Arts high school, Sofia expressed their plans to apply the received very useful information for their educational activities. Prof. Dr. Stoyan Denchev, Rector of UniBIT, showed complete satisfaction with the successful event and emphasized his expectation of continuing the initiative at the professional schools and universities in Bulgaria. Dipl.-eng. Petar Kanev, President of the Printing Industry Union of Bulgaria, noted the big importance of the initiative for the Bulgarian printers, especially now, in the time of difficult economic situation.
